Lucentix is a MedTech company making light-based biosensors. The name and technology reference Luciferin, a light-emitting substance found in bioluminescent organisms like fireflies.
The biosensor is a molecular firefly – It glows on detecting the analyte. Measuring the light indicates the concentration of the substance tested.
This technology enables people with certain genetic metabolic conditions to perform their weekly tests at home instead of visiting the hospital, saving time and resources.
Design was instrumental in translating the technology in the lab to an object/system of everyday use — a home blood testing kit.
The vial was designed to work with the MicroSafe pipette and to efficiently hold very small volumes of liquid (50 μl). Made with a special transparent co-polymer, to visibly aid homogeneous mixing.
The shape of the cartridge gives clear visual direction, stepped form ensures light-tightness and error free alignment every time.
Packaging becomes storage – Designed to keep everything neatly together and fit in a drawer.
